The Self Catering Holiday of the Year category recognises a commitment to excellence across all aspects of customer care, quality of accommodation, accessibility, care for the environment and innovation.

A relatively new self-catering property sited in a converted two storey barn in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at Great Appleford on the Isle of Wight has been rewarded for its outstanding tourism offering.

Kitty's Loft was praised by the judges not just for the quality of its facilities but for the warm, personal service provided to visitors. The property incorporates a number of environmentally-conscious and energy saving features.

Television personality Angela Rippon presented awards across 14 categories at the Tourism ExSEllence Awards, attended by more than 200 representatives from the region's tourism industry.

Countryside Complimentary Award 2004

At the Isle of Wight Society's Conservation Awards 2004, the judges agreed unanimously to make a special award, the Countryside Complimentary Award, to J R Buckett & Sons Ltd, for their work in completing the conservation, restoration and conversion of Great Appleford Barns.
